Chiropractor Pearland TX | Living With Recurring Back Pain

When I was in high school, I would lay on my bedroom floor and weep because my back pain was so terrible, and not anything helped. In my case, it was the spot right between my shoulder blades. Stress made it worse. Sitting for long periods-like in school all day-made it worse. Playing my flute made it worse. Was Scoliosis the Culprit of My Back Pain? – For being, they couldn’t even determine what was causing the pain. They hadn’t detected scoliosis in the sixth-grade school nurse examination. One of my shoulders seemed slightly higher than the other, but my grandmother also has an unsymmetrical frame. In high school, after another routine school nurse check, I was over again referred to the doctor. They determined that I did in fact have scoliosis, but it was so minor that it shouldn’t have been a interest. The problem is that especially when you’re dealing with something as sensitive as your back and your spinal cord with its intricate system of nerves, even an anomaly that seems slight can still have far-success consequences. It wasn’t about how minor the curve in my spine was-it was about how it affected the rest of my body. Physical Therapy Didn’t Really Help – When I was in college, still suffering intensely, after more X-rays it was finally determined that the pain was being caused by the way that slight curve put pressure on the muscles. I started physical therapy to strengthen the muscles. My uncle is a physical therapist, so I’d already been doing some physical therapy for being, with minimal relief. I’d like to say that my new physical therapy routine brought more and significant relief-but it really didn’t. I’d pretty much given up hope that anything would ever really help. Painkillers were pretty a waste of time, and I’ve never liked that method anyway because it doesn’t really fix anything, it just covers it up. Not anything Made the Pain Go Away Permanently – I had a friend in college who gave wonderful massages. That helped, and topical muscle and joint creams did provide some reprieve, but the pain always came back. The Leap forward – Then, when I was twenty-four, I finally went to see a chiropractor. I wasn’t in good shape. In addition to back pain, I had terrible allergies and poor digestion and was prone to panic attacks. I had constant chest pains that were brought on by a combination of indigestion and nervousness. Over five being later, I would have to say that I’m a very different person, physically and mentally. I would be lying if I said my back never hurts anymore, but it’s no longer debilitating, and I can always pop in to my chiropractor for an extra visit on days when it’s worse. Also notably, my allergies and digestive issues are relatively nonexistent compared to what they used to be. I didn’t realize how much having your spine in proper alignment can affect your overall health and well-being-but I do now. I’m not saying that chiropractic care saved my life, but it certainly has enhanced the quality of it-and I’m not sure that it didn’t save it. www.HealthSourceOfPearland.com
